Castor & Sylvie: A Staged Reading

Castor and Sylvie

A One-Act Play, by Tara Goldstein

February 7, 2015, 12:00-1:30, Croft Chapter House, University College

Castor and Sylvie is a story about two women living together as a family in Paris, France, in 1980. While the play is inspired by actual events and is about two actual people, one who is still living, and one who died in 1986, it does not in any way represent the statements, thoughts, feelings, opinions or attitudes of the real Sylvie Le Bon de Beauvoir or the real Simone de Beauvoir (Castor). The dialogue and monologues in the play are creations of my own imagination. The words, thoughts, feelings opinions and attitudes revealed by my characters Castor and Sylvie have been created by me.

Simone de Beauvoir:          Briony Glassco
Sylvie Le Bon:                     Severn Thompson
Director:                              Pamela Baer
